This non-fired Ceramic Program is all new at the Arboretum. Children and their parent will gain a fundamental understanding of all the different possibilities working with clay. Students will learn the use of ceramic tools, how to make clay slabs, cylinders, incising, relief work, mosaic inlay work, and much more. For each of the four different classes, twigs, tree bark, leaves, flowers, peacock feathers, and rocks will be made available to inspire students in their potential creations. Students will also learn about the various trees, plants, of the samples being used, and the unique patterns and textures that nature forms. To finish each piece, we will paint it and seal the artwork using all purpose glue. Join us this February for an introduction to non-fired ceramics and make unique artworks that will last a lifetime!
