Crescent Farm Workshop
About This Event
November 1st, 1-2pm: iNaturalist Zoom Workshop
Join us for an engaging Zoom workshop where you’ll learn how to use iNaturalist to explore and document the plants and wildlife around you. Whether at Crescent Farm, in your backyard, neighborhood, or on a hike, you can turn everyday observations into valuable data that supports real scientific research. No prior experience needed — just curiosity!
November 8th, 10am-12pm: Lasagna Mulching Workshop
Join us on site in the Crescent with our Interpretive Horticulturalist John Latsko for a hands-on workshop at the Crescent. You will learn about the value of this tried-and-true method of soil-building and weed suppression, how it’s used at the Crescent and how it may work in your yard! Be prepared for a lot of hands-on fun and to get a little dirty. We recommend bringing a pair of gloves. Crescent Farm workshops are made possible (and free) through grant funding! Space is limited, so reserve your space now!
December 6th, 10:45am-12pm: BioBlitz at Crescent Farm
Using the citizen science app iNaturalist, we’ll explore together to record plants, birds, insects, and other wildlife that call this landscape home. Join us to document the amazing biodiversity of the Arboretum’s Crescent Farm. Whether you’re new to nature observation or an experienced naturalist, your participation will guide future conservation and stewardship efforts. It’s a chance to slow down, look closer, and see how science can bring people and nature together, all while learning about the native and drought-tolerant plants, the wildlife, and pollinators they support. Bring your phone and love for nature!
