Why was rosemary traditionally placed in funeral bouquets? How did the pomegranate get the name the “fruit of the dead?” What flower was once used to preserve dead bodies? Which herb in the Middle Ages was believed to ward off evil spirits?

Learn the answers to these questions and more as you discover the eerier side of our “Freaky Flora” plant collections in this one-hour walking tour led by Arboretum staff!

 

 

-Garden admission required; members free

-No reservations needed; walk-ups welcome

-Meet at the large map in the main entrance plaza

-Route is approximately one mile

-Tour begins promptly at start time

-Comfortable walking shoes encouraged

-In the event of rain, tours will be cancelled
