There are thousands of different types of roses, but let’s go back in time and take a look at where it all started in horticulture. In this class we will go over the beginning of successful rose propagation and cover the different types of roses out there. Roses come in all colors, flower sizes, petal shapes, sometimes even replicating other flowers in looks. The varieties seem endless!! But let’s take this one step at a time and gain a better understanding of the roses by learning its history.
Irene Truong is a recent graduate from Cal Poly Pomona with a bachelor’s in Plant Science. She has been at the LA Arboretum since 2018 as an intern and worked her way to a gardener position overlooking the Rose Garden and Kallam, the perennial garden.
