Ikenobo Ikebana Exhibit

About This Event

Ikenobo is the founding school of Ikebana (the art of Japanese flower arrangements) with a 600 year history. The school is headquarter in Kyoto, Japan. The Ikenobo Ikebana Society of Los Angeles is one of the largest chapters outside of Japan and celebrated its 60th anniversary two years ago. This is the first time that we the yearly exhibition will be held at the Arboretum. We hope to reach more of the general public and share with them the beauty of Ikenobo Ikebana.

The school has three main styles of arranging flowers: Rikka, Shoka, and free style. In our exhibition we will have arrangements by both instructors and students. Both traditional and modern versions of Rikka and Shoka arrangements with be on display as well as a number of free style arrangements.
