Inner Discovery Painting through Roses with Kris Keys
Located in Arboretum
About This Event
Instructor: Kris Keys
Date: Saturday, July 30 and Sunday, July 31
Time: 6-8 pm
Price: $140 members, $150 non-members
In her second collaboration with the Los Angeles County Arboretum, internationally trained watercolor artist Kris Keys will lead a dual instructional and performance art experience that harnesses the therapeutic power of roses. During an intimate evening in the Rose Garden at Sunset, Kris demonstrates and calmly imparts beginner-level watercoloring techniques while guiding participants through their own path to self-discovery. She uses florals and the story of her own journey to create a uniquely luxurious psychosensory exercise in mindfulness, as participants surrender to the release of endorphins promoting creativity and healing.
Irena Cora Stathis (Founder, Flowering Earth School of Herbalism) will be on-site to share her comprehensive knowledge of rose-based herbal remedies to improve overall wellness.
Participants can expect:
A live performance demonstration of the wet-to-wet watercolor painting technique by internationally trained artist Kris Keys.
Beginner-friendly instructions on how to paint roses in watercolor.
Meditative connection between mind, body, spirit, and nature.
Lessons in herbalism and tea samples from local herbalist, Irena Cora Stathis.
Two self-completed floral paintings.
