Opening Reception & Artist Talk
Tuesday, October 9, 6:30 – 8pm
The Sweet Breathing of Plants presents the indigenous art of Neshkinukat artists. In the Lakota language Neshkinukat means “We Are All Related.” In the Luiseño language it means “One Who Has Relatives.” The exhibit from October 6 to December 21 includes an exceptional collection of textiles, baskets, multimedia, photographs, and paintings, which celebrate the remarkable nature of plants. Elder Julia Bogany will give an opening blessing. Tima Lotah Link is a Chumash cultural educator and basketweaver and is the evening’s featured speaker.
