World Migratory Bird Day
About This Event
Celebrate the peak of spring migration with a self-guided journey through our living collection! Whether you’re a seasoned birder or a curious explorer, the Bird’s Eye View Mission invites you to slow down and notice the vibrant life moving through our garden. This isn’t a formal scientific study—it’s an invitation to play, listen, and discover.
Upon arrival, pick up your “Mission Map” at the entrance to begin your expedition.
Your mission includes five interactive challenges:
-The Habitat Scavenger Hunt: Can you find the “hidden high-rises” and “nectar refill stations” that birds depend on? Search for specific plant features that provide food and shelter for our feathered travelers.
-The 3-Minute Sound Map: Take a seat on a garden bench and use your “bird ears” to map the songs around you. Can you match the call to the bird?
-The Guest List Tally: Help us answer the question: How many birds visit the garden in a single day? Keep a simple tally of every bird you spot, with a special bonus for finding our “Ambassador of the Day.”
-Coevolution Stations: Look for special signage throughout the garden that reveals the secret history between plants and birds—from flowers designed specifically for hummingbird beaks to trees that “hire” birds to plant their seeds.
-The Community Count: Before you leave, visit our Collective Sightings Board at the exit. Add your personal tally to our daily total and see how many birds the entire garden community discovered together!
