The White-eared Bulbul (Pycnonotus leucotis) can now be added to the list of bulbul species found as escapees in urban Southern California. It is native to western India, much of Pakistan, southern Afghanistan, and nearby countries.
Chris Orr, an avid birder, photographer, and Arboretum member, first sighted this bulbul. “I was in the Madagascar Spiny Forest when I looked up to see a bird I couldn’t ID. I managed to get three photos before another bird chased it away.”
