About This Event
Winter Incense Workshop
December 11th
9:30am-11:30am
$85/ members $95/ non-members
Celebrate the season by creating botanical incense for yourself or others. Participants will learn about the origins, culture and use of incense with an emphasis on this season’s historically-significant Frankincense and Myrrh. A display of incense materials and types from across the globe will be available to inspire participants in the creation of their own botanical incense (cones or loose blend) to take home. (Makes an amazing holiday gift).
About the instructor
Ethnobotanist Krisa Fredrickson’s background and interests combine science with art. She has conducted long-term research on incense materials and culture, traditional medicine, natural dyes, and the evolving care of museum collections. A transplant from the San Francisco Bay Area, where she helped manage the California Academy of Sciences’s 2+ million botanical specimens, Krisa is currently assisting with botanical projects at the Huntington.
