Art Center Projects, 2012
Sixteen students from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena recently presented specially designed art pieces made from wood salvaged from trees toppled by last December’s windstorm. A few of their creations, which included clocks, lamps, a croquet mallet, a wine holder, a cheese board, jewelry and other decorative items, are on display in the Arboretum Library. The students are among the 130 artists and artisans invited by the Arboretum to commemorate the fallen trees through art. The work of all artists will be on display at the Forces of Nature art exhibit from November 30 to December 2, 9am-4:30pm, at the Arboretum. The artists are donating their work, which will be auctioned the evening of Nov. 30. Part of the proceeds will be donated to the Arboretum Tree Fund.
